When straightening your teeth with the Invisalign® system, you will be wearing customized, removable, clear plastic aligners 20 to 22 hours a day.
Invisalign works by providing predictable, controlled tooth movements, and requires seeing your orthodontist every 4-6 weeks to evaluate your progress. This system is popular for teens and adults because they are practically invisible, so you can feel confident in social situations.
Because the aligners can be taken out, your oral hygiene routine is the same as usual,
brushing and flossing and rinsing to keep out tooth decay and gum disease by removing oral debris and dental plaque at least twice a day. When you eat, you just take the aligners out, just don’t lose them or forget to put them back in. There are no food restrictions when you are straightening your teeth with Invisalign!
If you participate in sports, Invisalign aligners won’t injure oral tissues, unlike brackets and wires in braces. Of course, since the aligners can be taken out, you can wear a mouth guard instead during the activity.
Your nightly bedtime routine isn’t impacted as much while wearing your aligners since brushing and flossing are the same. To clean the aligners, you can just brush and rinse them carefully in warm water or use the Invisalign cleaning kit.
