In order for your braces to effectively realign your teeth, your orthodontist, Dr. John Fleming, will need to perform routine adjustments. Each adjustment stretches and alters the periodontal ligaments that anchor each tooth into place. After four to six weeks, the periodontal ligaments will accept their new positions and your braces will be ready for another small adjustment.
The stretching applied to your periodontal ligaments is progressive and it needs to be done in succession. If you miss an adjustment appointment, it will likely increase the amount of time you need to wear braces.
Our Quality Orthodontic Care team’s adjustment sessions also help identify any part of your appliance that might be worn out, loosened or otherwise damaged by daily wear and tear. This is relatively common for spacers or bands that need replacing.
If you are overdue for an adjustment appointment or if you would like to schedule your next appointment in advance, you can call Dr. John Fleming at 770-901-2433. We look forward to giving you an efficient and successful experience with your braces in Alpharetta, Georgia!
